You take an old Soviet vacuum tube, a few bits of laser cut acrylic, and a fresh Zappa tune, smoosh them all together, and you get this:

It's a Vacuum Flourescent Display (read more about those here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wik... ). Pretty cool, though pretty much antiquated, technology. Sort of like a CRT and a nixie tube smooshed together.

The Zappa song is We Are Not Alone off the Man From Utopia Album. I felt like it needed some props after I forgot to add it to the 'I Mostly Hate Saxophones' post. ( http://siemprelaluna.com/in... ).
